“I have built a collection of work that is known for its distinctive texture and shading with attention to detail. Drawing is a form of meditation for me, and oddly enough, the more intense the drawing the more enjoyable”
Mary lived in New York until August 2017 when she moved to Bluffton, SC with her husband Mark. They have two daughters Corianne, who lives in Denver, and Katie, who lives in Philadelphia.
Mostly a self-taught artist, she is always looking for new venues to explore. Her favorite medium is pencil, with which she has developed her own technique by working in many layers. She also enjoys working with watercolor pencil, watercolor paints, and acrylic.
Mary always seeks a challenge when searching for a subject matter. When looking for a subject matter she always looks for a challenge. “This is the way I can improve even if I fail. If I fail or succeed, I have always learned something. You can not learn from an empty canvas”
While living in New York, Mary worked for faux painting companies, a ceramic studio, and volunteered for the Woman’s Auxiliary Art Show for many years. She was also a member of Nyack Art Collective.
Her artwork has been exhibited in restaurants, libraries, galleries, public official offices, and boutiques.
